Every answer is a play.
Read the question.
You get a short reading window before the answer clock starts. Check the named season, era and statistic. There is no overall two-minute game clock.
Make your best call.
Type your answer and press Enter or tap the arrow. You might estimate a number, name a player, build a rapid-fire list, or call Over / Under.
Earn your yards.
Better answers earn bigger gains. Numerical and leaderboard questions reward closeness, so an informed guess can still move the ball. Each play shows its own maximum reward and scoring explanation.
Keep the drive alive.
Gain 10 yards in four downs for a fresh set of downs. Reach the end zone to score. A failed fourth down or a safety ends the drive.
Review it. Share it.
After each play, see the answer and its explanation. Your final results include a play-by-play breakdown and a shareable result to challenge your friends.
Different plays. Same football instincts.
The daily mix uses several question types. Read the instructions on each play before answering.
Estimate a number
Guess a career count, rank or statistic. An exact answer earns the most, and close guesses receive partial credit based on that question’s scoring scale.
Name the player or team
Identify a leaderboard spot or an answer near a statistical target. Your answer’s actual position or total determines how close you came.
Rapid fire
Enter as many qualifying names as you can in 45 seconds. Press Enter after each one and keep going. The list is graded when the play ends; each wrong name costs one yard.
Over / Under
Read the set’s period, then decide whether each player’s actual statistic was over or under the displayed line. The whole daily play shares one 35-second clock. Correct calls earn one yard; wrong calls cost one.
Clue reveals
Identify the mystery player or memorable performance. More clues make the puzzle easier and lower the available gain: 35, 20, 10, 5 yards. A wrong guess advances to the next clue while clues remain.
Pairs, puzzles and ordering
Enter two connected names, find someone who meets the stated conditions, or drag four players into numbered order. Follow the specific play’s instructions and check its reward.
Watch the play clock.
Rapid fire gives you 45 seconds. Other drive questions give you 35 seconds, including the entire Over / Under set. The answer clock begins after the reading window and stops between plays.
Opening a help panel during an active play does not pause its clock. For questions with a Throw away option, you can take no gain and use a down.
You don’t need a perfect answer every time.
Each question displays its maximum gain. Open its scoring help to see how the reward works. Gains never exceed 35 yards on a play, and the maximum loss is five yards. Rapid-fire and Over / Under subtotals follow that same loss limit.
Closeness depends on the type of question and its answer pool. A small-count estimate and a deep leaderboard ranking do not use one universal percentage-error cutoff. The post-play breakdown shows what you earned and the facts behind it.
Names are meant to be forgiving. Clear surnames, familiar aliases and minor typos can be recognized. If a correction needs confirmation, review the name in the field and submit again.
A new daily drive at New York midnight.
The free game has one official daily attempt. A new edition arrives at midnight in America/New_York. A drive already underway keeps its original question set when the date changes.
